About MarkUp.io

MarkUp.io is the simplest way to collaborate on websites, images, PDFs, and videos. Our visual commenting platform enables professionals, teams, and enterprises to create MarkUps, leave contextual feedback, easily share that feedback for review, and get notified whenever someone adds a new comment or responds to a thread in MarkUp.io.

MarkUp.io supports over 30 file types, including PDFs, slides, images, and videos. Please refer to this related support article for a complete list of supported formats.

A Workspace is a single location that houses your MarkUps, as well as Folders for Pro and Enterprise users. A Workspace serves as the main collaboration hub. You can invite team members to your Workspace by navigating to the Workspace’s left sidebar and clicking the Team icon. From there, they’ll be directed to the Team page, where they can add team members via the Invite button. Pro and Enterprise users can also use the Team page to manage roles and permissions. Starting July 26, each user will only be able to create one Free Workspace. If you choose to upgrade to Pro, you will have an option to upgrade your existing Free Workspace, or create a brand new one with Pro features. Users managing multiple Workspaces can view and access all their Workspaces from the left sidebar. They can also move projects from one Workspace to another by clicking the three dots in the top right corner of a project tile, then selecting “Move to.” All existing Workspaces will appear as an option. Once a project has been moved from one Workspace to another, MarkUp.io will automatically transfer all the data and users associated with that project to the chosen Workspace. Finally, you can manage Workspace settings by clicking the Settings gear icon in the left sidebar. This allows you to rename your Workspace, claim its unique URL address, upload a new icon, or delete the Workspace altogether.

Pro and Enterprise users can use Folders to organize their MarkUps. Please note that Folders are not available on the Free plan. Folders have been introduced to reduce the need to establish and maintain an overwhelming number of Workspaces. As a Pro or Enterprise user, you can create as many Folders as you want. One of the biggest differentiators with the newly-introduced Folder structure is that you can create additional Folders within Folders, up to five Folders deep. This feature can help you better organize MarkUps, deliverables, clients, etc. You can share at the overarching Folder level, at the sub-Folder level, or just at the MarkUp level. As a Pro or Enterprise user, you also have more visibility over who has access to a Folder or MarkUp, remove users, or restrict access through the shared link.

There are 4 types of roles within MarkUp.io. Owners control user permissions within a Workspace, including removing user access. Like Admins, Owners can also edit the Workspace, Folders, and MarkUps, with one key difference — Owners own the Workspace and can delete the Workspace at any time. Admins control user permissions within a Workspace, including removing user access. They can also edit the Workspace, Folders, and MarkUps, but cannot delete the Workspace if they are not the primary Owner. Members are collaborators who can upload and comment on MarkUps, as well as invite stakeholders to gather feedback and update content. On the Pro and Enterprise plans, Members can also access and add/remove Folders within a Workspace. Finally, Guests are typically business/project stakeholders or individual clients who are only reviewing a project pertaining to them. Since they are just reviewing and providing feedback, they typically do not have a need to upload MarkUps.

Yes! You can upgrade and downgrade your chosen plan at any time. For users on the Free plan, you receive a free 30-day trial. After this trial is over, you will be prompted to enter your payment information, and the billing cycle will begin. If you choose to downgrade from the Pro to the Free plan, you can do so right from the billing tab. If you downgrade mid-billing cycle, you will still be able to enjoy Pro plan features through the end of that cycle. For example, if the billing cycle starts on 6/1 and you downgrade on 6/15, you would still have access to your Pro subscription through 6/30. The downgrade to the Free plan would take effect on 7/1. If you are on an Enterprise plan, please contact your dedicated Success Manager for more information.

Yes. Each additional Pro Workspace added to your Pro plan will cost the same as an additional subscription. Please note that you will be prompted to re-enter your credit card information when adding an extra Workspace. Each Workspace included in your Pro plan will operate independently from one another. This separation may be optimal for users who prefer to organize teams within Workspaces rather than Folders. We do recommend anyone in need of multiple Pro Workspaces within a single organization to contact us about our Enterprise offering here.

You will receive reminders that a payment is due and see warnings in your MarkUp.io dashboard. If you fail to update your payment information within five days of the due date, your account will be downgraded to the Free tier. None of your files or folders will be deleted. Once you’re able to update your payment information, you can continue using the platform with all of your files and folders intact.

Taxes will be applied to the total MarkUp.io plan cost when applicable. Not at all! Our Free plan is free for everyone. When you decide to give the Pro plan a try, you will be prompted to add your payment details only after the 30 days of the free trial have concluded. Suppose you’ve already decided to continue using MarkUp.io before the end of the 30-day trial. In that case, we recommend adding your payment information prior to the trial end date to avoid any interruptions to your workflow. You will not be charged for the time remaining on your free trial.

At the end of the 30-day free trial, you will be prompted in-app and via email to add your billing information, should you choose to continue with the Pro plan. If you decide not to move forward after your free 30-day trial or don’t update your billing information, you will be downgraded to the Free tier. Please note that you will still be able to access your files and folders within MarkUp.io; however, as a Free user, you will be unable to modify existing Workspaces or create new folders.

Unfortunately, no. We are only able to offer one free trial per registered user.

Support

In addition to our library of extensive support articles, MarkUp.io Pro and Enterprise customers will also have continuous access to in-product Live Chat Support between 9 am and 6 pm EST Monday through Friday. We aim to respond within 5 minutes of a question being submitted in the chat. Any inquiries outside of operating hours can be submitted via email and will be handled at the start of business on the following day.

None of your files or folders will be deleted. However, you will lose the ability to modify existing folders or create new folders. Other Free tier limitations will also be put in place, including a storage cap of 10 GB. Please keep in mind that the Free plan only allows a total of 20 MarkUps. If you opt to downgrade, you will still be able to edit existing MarkUps; however, if you have more than 20 MarkUps in your Workspace, you will need to delete old MarkUps to make room for more.
